Rihanna: ‘Being naked makes me feel more comfortable’

Singer says shedding her clothes boosts her self-confidence

Rihanna has claimed that being naked makes her feel more comfortable.

In an interview with Women’s Fitness magazine, the ‘Talk That Talk’ star said that she shedding her clothes and baring her flesh had allowed her to combat her body image issues and made her become more confident.

She said:

The more I got naked the more comfortable I felt. I just had to face my fear.

She then went on to say that people can “always find something wrong” with the way they look, adding: “One thing turns into another and you get embarrassed and self-conscious about it. After a while I was like, ‘What’s the worst that can happen?’ and I just started being a little more daring with it.

“It was just knowing my body is the way it is no matter what that helped me. Knowing that it is what it is under clothes or outside of clothes.”

Not everyone is so comfortable with Rihanna’s choice of outfits, however. Earlier this month (March 8), singer Will Young criticised the star and claimed she was a bad role model for women. He said that her lyrics were not empowering for “young girls” and also suggested that some of her videos, such as the promo for her single ‘S&M’ which features shots of her kissing a girl, were overly salacious.

Previously, meanwhile, the video for her single ‘We Found Love’ was described as a “disgrace” by anti-rape campaigners after it showed her being spanked by male model Dudley O’Shaughnessy.
