Rihanna has faced criticism after posting a picture of herself online with an unidentified white powder.
The picture, posted on photo-sharing site Instagram, appears to show her cutting up an substance on top of her on her bodyguard’s shoulders. The image was taken at this weekend’s Coachella Festival in California and has sparked outrage from Instagram users, with comments suggesting the powder could be an illegal substance.
The singer has yet to respond to the claims, but she tweeted MTV, who have since removed the pictures on their website, stating simply: “PATHETIC C*NTZ”.
Last night the singer brushed off the controversy by appearing at a cancer benefit in Beverly Hills in front of an audience which included director Steven Spielberg.
In the past, Rihanna has admitted that she doesn’t try to be controversial but that she often went “too far”. “I never do anything to get banned, never do it for controversy. It’s always just honest and at times I just go a little too far for some,” she said.
The singer has also confirmed plans to embark on a world tour in 2013.
