Chris Brown turned himself over to police in Los Angeles after being investigated for an alleged ‘domestic violence felony’, which saw him and girlfriend Rihanna pull out of their respective performances at tonight’s Grammy Awards.
The singer arrived at a Los Angeles police station in a black Escalade on Sunday, lying down in the backseat.
Police officer Karen Smith told usmagazine.com that Brown turned himself in earlier this evening, when his fellow Grammy nominees were arriving on the red carpet at the Staples Center.
He was taken into custody at 6.30pm, and was booked for alleged criminal threat at 7.41pm. As previously reported, he was released after posting $50,000 bail.
Brown will face the charges in court on March 5.
As reported earlier, an unidentified woman called police around half-past -midnight last night, after being allegedly physically assaulted by Brown. The woman reportedly had visible injuries when police arrived, and Brown had fled the scene.
Media speculation that the victim is Rihanna has not been confirmed or denied by her reps.
