Rihanna named cultural ambassador to Barbados

Singer's homeland recognises her 'cultural contributions'

Rihanna has been named an honourary cultural ambassador to Barbados.

Her native island nation held a rally yesterday (February 21) to honour the 20-year-old singer, where Prime Minister David Thompson made the announcement.

Thompson said that the government would also recognise Rihanna‘s cultural contributions by giving her a “piece of the rock”, — a plot of real estate in the exclusive Apes Hill area of St James parish, reports the Associated Press.

Rihanna made a splash at the Brit Awards earlier this week where she performed ‘Umbrella’ with Klaxons, as previously reported.
