Rihanna has been announced as the latest recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the MTV VMAs.
The gong, which was first given to The Beatles and David Bowie at the event’s inaugural edition, gives the singer one guaranteed win at the ceremony, where she is also nominated for four more awards.
She is also up for Best Female Video for ‘Work’ and Best Male Video for her contribution to Calvin Harris‘ ‘This Is What You Came For’. She also has two shots at Best Collaboration for both of the aforementioned songs, as Billboard reports.
Rihanna tweeted about the Video Vanguard award as it was announced, writing: “Honored to take the #VMAs stage as your video #VANGUARD award recipient LIVE from NYC on August 28!”
