Rihanna releases ‘Anti’ for free on Tidal including Tame Impala cover

Long awaited album will only be available through streaming platform for one week

Rihanna has released new album ‘Anti’ through Tidal. Fans can download the album for free using a variety of codes which will be distributed by Rihanna and Samsung.

The album features new single ‘Work’, premiered yesterday, as well as a cover of Tame Impala’s ‘New Person, Same Old Mistakes’ (titled ‘Same Ol’ Mistakes’). Meanwhile, ‘Goodnight Gotham’ samples ‘Only If For A Night’ by Florence and the Machine. Aside from Drake, there is just one other featured artist on the record; R&B singer SZA.

2015 singles ‘Bitch Better Have My Money’ and ‘American Oxygen’ do not feature on the record, nor does ‘FourFiveSeconds’, her collaboration with Kanye West and Paul McCartney.

The 13-track standard version of ‘Anti’ is available on Tidal now. It can be streamed and downloaded via the streaming platform with a 16-track deluxe edition available from tomorrow (January 29). The album will stream exclusively on Tidal for one week before general release.

Initially, downloads will be available exclusively on Tidal through a limited supply of complementary download codes provided as a gift from Rihanna and Samsung. Each complementary download comes with a 60-day free Tidal trial. Once all codes are used anyone will be able to purchase the album via the Tidal download store.

Speculation about ‘Anti’s release date reached a new high late last year when Rihanna launched a new website for the record in mid-November. Speculation suggested that the album would be streamed on Tidal with a wider release planned for December 4. However, that failed to materialise.

Rihanna officially launched her eighth studio album in September at an exclusive gallery party in LA, during which both the ‘Anti’ title and the accompanying artwork were revealed.

Rihanna will tour the UK in the summer. The Weeknd and Big Sean will support Rihanna on all European dates on the Antiworld Tour, which makes it to Britain in June.
