Singer becomes the first black woman to front the fashion brand
Rihanna has been announced as the new face of Dior.
The singer will appear in the fourth episode of the French fashion label’s Secret Garden Spring 2015 video series.
The film and print campaign features models walking around the Palace of Versailles in Dior gowns. Rihanna’s involvement was announced through a tweet by the label which stated:
She is the first black woman to front the high fashion brand. Rihanna joins the likes of actresses Jennifer Lawrence, Charlize Theron and Marion Cotillard as the face of Dior.
The singer has already fronted brands such as Gucci, Emporio Armani and Balmain.
Meanwhile, Calvin Harris has admitted that the singer thought he was “strange” when they first collaborated in 2011.
He said: ”She thought I was kind of funny, this strange guy making cool music, or I guess what she thought was cool.
”I’d never been around someone who was doing shows so big, such a huge iconic presence. I kept my head down. Then I saw her at the last show and she told me she wanted to do a song like the one I was playing.”
Harris also added that when Rihanna agreed to credit his name on the record, it was a ”mad dream come true”.
He added: ”I was like, ‘Look, this is my song. I’ve done everything. Would you consider putting my name on it?’ And she did which is very gracious of her.
”It was just a mad dream come true. It made the sort of impact I hadn’t even thought could be possible. It was crazy.”
