BBC’s ‘The One Show’ apologises after 400 viewers complain about Rita Ora’s cleavage

'If we had been consulted on it we would have requested she wore something more suitable for 7pm,' says TV show

BBC’s The One Show have apologised for offending viewers after they received 400 complaints about Rita Ora’s cleavage.

Ora made an appearance on the TV show to promote her role as a judge on the BBC’s talent show The Voice but, as the Huffington Post reports, the programme received hundreds of complaints from disgruntled viewers.

Complaints were also made via the BBC’s Points Of View message board, with one user stating: “Isn’t it about time the BBC had a dress code? I do not want to see her boobs hanging out on a family programme. I find it quite disgraceful.”

Writing on their Facebook page, The One Show said: “We’re sorry to those of you who were offended by Rita Ora’s choice of outfit on yesterday’s show. If we had been consulted on it we would have requested she wore something more suitable for 7pm.”

A spokesperson for the BBC also issued a statement in response to the complaints. “The One Show allows guests to choose their own attire and pop stars often opt for something glamorous or striking,” they said. “We didn’t feel that Rita’s outfit would be outside of most viewers’ expectations of that of a major pop star, but we appreciate that tastes vary.”

Ora will replace former judge Kylie Minogue on the latest series of The Voice. She will take her place on the show’s trademark spinning chairs alongside Tom Jones, will.i.am and Kaiser Chiefs’ frontman Ricky Wilson when the programme returns this Saturday (January 10).
