Rita Ora ‘may be required’ to give evidence at burglary trial

£200,000 of goods were stolen from Ora's London home last November

Rita Ora may be forced to give evidence at the trial of a man who has been accused of stealing £200,000 of goods from her London home.

As previously reported in December, the singer was burgled one week before fellow X Factor judge Simon Cowell, with police investigating the possibility that the crimes were linked.

The Sun reported at the time that Ora’s six-bedroom semi-detached house in North West London, worth £1.3m, was burgled just seven days before Cowell’s home was targeted by thieves. Cowell lives less than four miles away from Ora.

The Metropolitan Police later confirmed that “one strand of the investigation” is that the burglaries are linked and that the burglars may have had “inside knowledge” prior to the crime.

According to the BBC, Charaf Eddine Elmoudden, of Stonebridge, is accused of taking jewellery, computers and clothes from the Harlesden house on November 28.

Appearing before a judge today (February 22), Elmoudden – who has been remanded in custody – pleaded not guilty to one count of burglary at Harrow Crown Court.

His trial is set to take place on June 6, with prosecutor Mark Kinsey confirming that Ora and her sister Elena (seen above) “may be required” to give evidence.

It’s thought the trial is expected to last up to three days and as well as Ora’s statement, CCTV footage of the alleged crime could also be used as evidence.
