Riz Ahmed accidentally recorded an Eminem track over his parents’ wedding video

And they still have no idea about it

Riz Ahmed has revealed he accidentally taped an Eminem track over his parents’ wedding video when he was younger.

The actor and rapper appeared on The Late Late Show with James Corden last night (October 2) to promote Venom, the new Marvel movie in which he stars.

Eminem features on the soundtrack to the film, which prompted Corden to ask Ahmed whether he was a big fan of the Detroit rapper. “I’m a huge Eminem fan,” he replied. “He changed rap and music for me.”

He continued to recall the first time he heard any of the star’s music. “It was one of these late-night music shows that would show the brand new music videos from America. ‘My Name Is’ came on. I remember watching it and I was like, ‘What the hell is this?’ So I immediately reached for the cabinet and took the first VHS tape I could find and put it in and just recorded that video.

“For a week, I watched it again and again and again and again. It was only later that I realised I’d taped over my parents’ wedding – only three minutes of the wedding, not the rest of it.”

Asked what his parents said when they found out, Ahmed replied: “They didn’t know up to now so hopefully they don’t watch this.” He then took the opportunity to apologise to them, saying: “I’m really sorry, it’s Eminem’s fault. It’s true – Eminem is a bad influence on kids.”

Meanwhile, Lady Gaga fans have been accused of spreading fake reviews of Venom in a bid to gain a larger audience for A Star Is Born.

Both films are released in cinemas on Friday (October 5) and Gaga’s Little Monsters have reportedly launched a coordinated effort to help the pop star come out on top in the box office. One fan told Buzzfeed: “It’s us Gaga fans creating fake ids to trash [the] Venom premiere. They both are getting released on the same day so we want more audience for A Star Is Born
