ROBBIE WILLIAMS looks set to swing his sound in yet another musical direction NME.COM can reveal.
The ex-Take That star who has experimented with pseudo indie, sussed pop and swing, has been jamming with Billy Duffy from rockers The Cult and is planning a one-off gig at the Viper Rooms in LA, according to an insider.
Together with Cult bassist Billy Morrsion, who ‘Father’ Robbie recently married, the trio of friends are planning on making their debut as a rock covers band. Though if it goes well, they may record original material together.
The source told NME.COM: “It’s not as far fetched as it might sound. Robbie has been saying he wants to stay in LA for a while and there’s rumours he’s fallen out with his songwriting partner, Guy Chambers, over his involvement in writing songs for ‘Pop Idol’ winner, Will Young. If he’s going to stay over there, he’s going to want something to do and he’s always changing image.”
