Kate's TV-theme debut takes on Rob and Nicole's Sinatras cover...

KATE WINSLET is set to battle it out with ROBBIE WILLIAMS and NICOLE KIDMAN in the race to secure this year’s Christmas Number One.

‘Titanic’ actress Winslet releases her debut ‘What If?’ in December, which she’s recorded as the theme for the made-for-TV remake of Charles Dickens’ classic ‘A Christmas Carol’.

Bookmakers William Hill are currently offering odds of 7/2 that Winslet will win it, whereas Rob‘n’Nicole are currently at 12/1 to hit the top of the Yuletide singles charts with their cover of Frank and Nancy Sinatra’s ‘Somethin’ Stupid’.

Released on December 10 through Chrysalis, the single is the first to be released from Robbie‘s album of easy-listening standards ‘Swing When You’re Winning’.

Gennaro Castaldo, spokesperson for HMV, said that Kate’s single was certainly worth a bet to beat the Robbie/Nicole duet to the top.

“When you hear it, you think maybe she missed her vocation. She’s just got an amazingly strong voice. It’s a really Christmassy song, and a very powerful ballad,” he said.
