The former Take That star scores another Number One with new single 'Eternity'...

ROBBIE WILLIAMS crashed straight into the UK singles chart at Number One tonight (July 15) with his latest release, ‘ETERNITY’.

The single, a double a-side also featuring ‘The Road To Mandalay’ from his current album ‘Sing When You’re Winning’, was reportedly written for his friend, Geri Halliwell. It narrowly beat the second highest new entry in the single chart, Eminem protegees D-12, who went straight in at Number Two with ‘Purple Hills’.

Last week’s Number One, Roger Sanchez’s ‘Another Chance’, was pushed down to Number Three.

Other new entries included Belgium dance diva Ian Van Dahl with ‘Castles In The Sky’ at Number Five, *NSYNC’s new single ‘Pop’ at Number Nine and Super Furry Animals who went straight in at Number 14 with ‘Juxtapozed With U’.

Further down the charts, the remix of Texas’ old hit ‘I Don’t Want A Lover 2001’ went in at Number 16 and Avalanches went straight in at Number 18 with ‘Frontier Psychiatrist’.

Aaliyah scored a new entry at Number 20 with ‘We Need Another Resolution’ and Ash went straight in at Number 21 with ‘Sometimes’.
