ROBBIE: BY ROYAL APPOINTMENT

ROBBIE WILLIAMS will front rock dinosaurs QUEEN during a series of dates in the US next year in a bid to finally break the country, it has been claimed.

The news, rumoured for several months, was announced this morning on ‘The Big Breakfast’ television show. It is hoped that by replacing the late Freddiie Mercury, Williams will score the success in the States that has continually eluded him.

It is currently unknown exactly how the performances will work or how many Queen songs Williams will perform. At press time, a spokesperson for the singer would only confirm that a statement would be issued later today (December 12).

Meanwhile, Williams has run into trouble with television watchdogs again, this time over the content of material in an advertisement for his ‘Sing When You’re Winning’ album.

The BACC (British Advertising Copy Clearance) has ruled that due to its contentious nature, the advert could only run after 7.30pm.

The commercial features a young couple dancing round their flat acting out the videos to Williams’ recent hits ‘Rock DJ’ and ‘Kids’. In the clip, the guy gets a little carried away during his take on ‘Rock DJ’, rips off his tiger-print underwear and stands full-frontally naked in front of a window while a bus drives past carrying a number of people made up to like Williams’ characters from former promotional videos.

The BACC said in a statement they put the time barrier in place in an “act to protect children”.

The news echoes controversy earlier this summer when the original ‘Rock DJ’ video was banned following complaints about the cannibalistic nature of the content which saw Williams rip off his flesh and throw it fans dancing around him.
