As you’d expect, the line-up for Robert Smith’s Meltdown Festival is incredible

It's Tuesday - we're in love

The first list of acts has been announced for Meltdown Festival 2018 – being curated this year by The Cure icon Robert Smith.

Following in the footsteps of the likes of Patti Smith, David Byrne, David Bowie, Nick Cave, Jarvis Cocker and most recently MIA, the past NME Godlike Genius Award winner will be hand-picking the acts heading to London’s Southbank Centre this June.

Today sees Deftones, The Libertines, Manic Street Preachers, Mogwai, My Bloody Valentine, Nine Inch Nails, Placebo, The Psychedelic Furs, 65daysofstatic, Alcest, The Anchoress, Kristin Hersh, Kathryn Joseph, MONO, and The Notwist announced for the 25th edition of the iconic music festival.

“As each invitee confirms, as each shimmering piece falls into place, I pinch myself – this is really happening,” said Smith of the announcement, “and the complete picture will undoubtedly be out of this world!”

Smith is also set to play a huge show with The Cure in Hyde Park this summer, marking 40 years since the release of their first single. They’ll be performing alongside Interpol, Editors and many more.

Renowned for their marathon, hit-packed, sprawling shows, this will mark the band’s first UK gig since their residency at  London’s SSE Arena Wembley last winter.
