Royal Blood cover T. Rex’s ’20th Century Boy’ as UK tour begins in Glasgow – watch

Band headlined first of two gigs at Barrowlands venue last night (February 22)

Royal Blood covered T-Rex as their UK tour kicked off in Glasgow last night (February 22).

The band headlined the first of two nights at the Barrowland venue last night (February 22) and slipped the ’20th Century Boy’ cover into their set alongside material they have not played live before as well as tracks from 2014 debut album ‘Royal Blood’.

Mike Kerr and Ben Thatcher played B-Side ‘One Trick Pony’ for the first time while their T. Rex cover joins a collection of Royal Blood covers that also includes songs by The Police, Lana Del Rey, Pharrell and Cold War Kids.

“Fucking hell, this is insane,” frontman Kerr said at one point in the gig. “It’s really escalated, hasn’t it?”

Royal Blood appeared at last week’s NME Awards with Austin, Texas. The duo performed on the night and Royal Blood won Best New Band supported by Replay at the NME Awards. The Brighton duo were presented with the award by The Cribs.
