Royal Blood, The Vaccines, Run The Jewels to play NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas

First wave of live performers confirmed for the ceremony at O2 Academy Brixton on 18 February 2015

The first three acts performing at the NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas have been revealed with The Vaccines, Royal Blood and Run The Jewels all set to play live at the ceremony.

The show takes place at the O2 Academy Brixton, London, on February 18, with tickets available now.

Heading into the event Royal Blood have seven nominations and will perform on the night prior to learning their fate. Both they and Run The Jewels are nominated in the prestigious Best Album category while the rock duo are also nominated for Best New Band supported by Replay, Best Live Band supported by Dead Crow Spirit Flavoured Beers and Best British Band supported by Marshall Amplification among others.

The Vaccines, meanwhile, are making their live return and will follow a series of intimate gigs with their performance at the awards.

Speaking to NME ahead of their arrival in the UK for the ceremony, El-P of Run The Jewels explained why agreeing to perform was not a difficult decision. “We don’t know that much about it, but NME has given us amazing love, so when we heard about it, we just said ‘of course, we’d love to,” he said.

He also revealed an unlikely new look that the duo are promising to unveil, saying: “Nudity, mostly. I’m flying there naked, I’m performing naked. It’s part of a new phase,” said El-P.

Asked if they have any surprises for the audience, he added: “I don’t want to spoil it but we have a guest that we’re bringing with us. The guest is on our album, that’s a clue.”

Tickets for the ceremony are now available from here. The winners of the NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas are decided by you – the fans – and voting is open until January 30.
