THE TRUX THAT WON’T SLOW DOWN

The American rockers continue their album-a-year cycle with the release of Pound For Pound in June...

Royal Trux are to release a new studio album, their ninth, on June 5 through Domino.

‘Pound For Pound’ follows last year’s ‘Veterans Of Disorder’, and continues the album-a-year cycle they began with ‘Sweet Sixteen’ in 1997.

The band will precede the album release with a single, ‘Dirty Headline’, on May 15. ‘Dirty Headline’ does not feature on the album and instead is a remixed version of the track that appeared on the ‘Radio Video’ EP in March. Jagz Kooner, formerly of Sabres Of Paradise and more recently a Primal Scream and David Holmes collaborator, has taken remix duties on the single.

The ‘Radio Video’ EP is proving to be a fertile hunting ground for Royal Trux as another of the tracks, ‘The Inside Game’, will appear on the soundtrack to ‘High Fidelity’, the film adaptation of Nick Hornby‘s best-seller starring John Cusack. The Royal Trux husband and wife duo of Neil Hagerty and Jennifer Herrema are currently in studio producing Irish band Chicks‘ debut album.

Royal Trux will play a selection of UK shows around the album’s release, though dates have yet to be confirmed.

The tracklisting for ‘Pound For Pound’ is as follows: ‘Call Out The Lions’, ‘Fire Hill’, ‘Platinum Tips’, ‘Accelerator (The Original) Deep Country Sorcerer’, ‘Sunshine and Grease’, ‘Blind Navigator Teenage Murder Mystery’, ‘Small Thief’ and ‘Doctor Gone’.
