Run-DMC set for reunion show at The Roots’ Picnic? – video

Questlove drops hints that the rap legends will appear at the June festival

The RootsQuestlove has heavily hinted that Run-DMC are set for their first live appearance since 2002 – you can see the video by scrolling down.

Talking in a video he posted on his Twitter account, the drummer and DJ hinted that the duo would be headlining this year’s Roots Picnic.

“If you were at the festival last year, you will notice that The Roots lived out their fantasy of doing the classic ‘It Takes A Nation Of Millions’ album with Public Enemy,” Questlove said in the video. “Are we going to top that? We are absolutely going to top that. This is a reunion we thought we would never get.”

He added: “We’ve been waiting to make this reunion happen for the longest [time], it’s so incredible, I don’t even want to tell you who it is. This is all I’m gonna say.”

At this point, Questlove puts on a trademark Run-DMC gold chain and fedora hat, before striking the classic Run-DMC arms-crossed stance and adding: “This should say it all. This is one show you don’t want to miss.”

If true, the appearance will be their first since the legendary rap group split in 2002, when Jam-Master Jay (aka Jason Mizell) was murdered.

Taking place on June 5 at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia, the event will be headlined by Vampire Weekend and feature the likes of The Roots, The Very Best, Neka and Das Racist.

Tickets for the festival go on sale today (March 5) at 10am (EST).

Neither Run-DMC or their management have yet to confirm or deny the rumour.
