A proposed Run-DMC reunion show has been scrapped.
The hip-hop legends were rumoured to be appearing at this year’s Roots Picnic event in Philadelphia. The Roots drummer Questlove hinted that DJ Run and rapper DMC were set to play what would be their first show since 2002, the year in which band member Jam-Master Jay (aka Jason Mizell) was murdered.
Now the drummer has told Billboard.com that the band’s appearance at the festival has been pulled, with The Roots now set to act as backing band for a set with Wu Tang Clan‘s Ghostface, Method Man and Raekwon instead.
Taking place on June 5 at Penn’s Landing in Philadelphia, the event will be headlined by Vampire Weekend and will also feature The Very Best, Neka and Das Racist.
