Fox News presenter blames rap music for decline of religion, Killer Mike says he’s ‘full of shit’

Right-wing political commentator Bill O'Reilly claims that hip-hop 'glorifies depraved behaviour'

Fox News anchor and political commentator Bill O’Reilly has hit out at hip-hop, blaming it for the decline of organised religion in the US.

A recent study has shown that the number of self-identifying Christians within those born before 1945 is over 80% compared to under 60% within the current Millennial generation. Since 2007, the percentage of the entire population identifying as non-religious also increased from 16.1% to 22.8%.

Speaking about the study during a recent episode of The O’Reilly Factor, the presenter seemed to blame rap music for this trend.

“There is no question that people of faith are being marginalized by a secular media and pernicious entertainment,” O’Reilly claimed. “The rap industry, for example, often glorifies depraved behaviour. That sinks into the minds of some young people – the group that is most likely to reject religion.”

Run The Jewels rapper Killer Mike later responded to O’Reilly’s comments on Bill Maher’s HBO show, describing O’Reilly as “full of shit”. Mike continued, “He’s more full of shit than an out-house”. Watch that clip beneath.
