'Meow The Jewels' – a cat sounds based version of 'Run The Jewels 2' – will now be made

The Run The Jewels cat album has met its Kickstarter funding target of £24,500 ($45,100).

Rap duo Killer Mike and El-P – aka Run The Jewels – promised to release a version of their new album ‘Run The Jewels 2’ remixed only with cat sounds if fans raised enough money via the Meow The Jewels Kickstarter.

The target has now been met, with 12 days to go. El-P has taken to Twitter to express his excitement at the completion of the funding. He wrote.

He also tweeted at Zola Jesus, Baauer, Geoff Barrow of Portishead, Boots and Dan The Automator, producers who were ready to contribute to the record, writing: “about that cat album…”.

‘Run The Jewels 2’ will be released as a free download on October 27 and came with a series of tongue-in-cheek financial targets and rewards, of which the cat remix album was one.

‘Run The Jewels 2’ is the second full-length to be released by rappers El-P and Killer Mike as Run The Jewels, the 11-track record features collaborations with Rage Against The Machine’s Zack de la Rocha and Blink 182’s Travis Barker, among others.
