The duo are aiming for a 2016 release date for their latest project

El-P has given an update on his and Killer Mike’s forthcoming Run The Jewels album, saying that they are halfway through recording the project.

The producer and rapper said on Twitter earlier today (March 28) that the follow-up to 2014’s ‘Run the Jewels 2’ is “halfway done” and on track for a release later this year.

Over the last few months, the duo have shared several clips of themselves recording new music on their social media accounts. In February, Killer Mike posted a video of the duo listening to music in an Instagram post tagged “#RTJ3”. It followed El-P teasing a short clip on his Instagram in December captioned, “RTJ3 is just getting started”.

Killer Mike has also been busy campaigning on behalf of Democrat presidential candidate Bernie Sanders. In December, the Atlanta rapper released a series of video interviews with the Vermont senator on YouTube and he has given stump speeches at a number of his rallies.

Run The Jewels recently won Best International Band at NME Awards 2016 with Austin, Texas.
