The Wu-Tang star is working with PETA on their new campaign
The Wu-Tang Clan rapper is the latest celebrity to team up with the animal rights organisation, joining the likes of Joaquin Phoenix, Taraji P. Henson, and Pink.
In the ad, RZA morphs into various people of different races, gender and age as he says: “We are all the same, in all the ways that matter. It doesn’t matter what we look like, how old we are, what language we speak, or who we love.”
The images of people then turn into images of animals, as the message of the advert becomes clear. “It doesn’t matter if we have fur or feathers or fins, the length of our nose or number of legs.
“We’re not different in any important way. We all have thoughts and feelings. We all feel love and pain and loneliness and joy.”
The PSA concludes: “Our task must be to break free from prejudice and to see ourselves in everyone else.”
In a press release, PETA detail the way different animals are killed or mistreated for humans’ benefit, even though they “feel pain and fear just as intensely as humans do.” You can watch the advert above.
Meanwhile, RZA is suing the dog-walking company Woof-Tang Clan for trademark infringement.
The company, which is based in Brooklyn, claim to walk “the illest group of dogs in New York City”, while they also offer dog-sitting services. Staff members are also said to be “courteous and responsible, as long as we’re in agreement that Nas’ ‘Illmatic’ is the greatest album of all time”.
