Sam Smith scores fourth Top 10 US hit with John Legend collaboration ‘Lay Me Down’

It follows 'Stay With Me', 'I'm Not The Only One' and 'Latch'

Sam Smith has scored his fourth Top 10 single in the US, with ‘Lay Me Down’ charting at Number Eight this week.

‘Lay Me Down’ has shot up the Billboard charts following the release of an updated version of the track featuring John Legend. It was previously at Number 58.

‘Lay Me Down’ follows Smith’s previous effort’s ‘Stay With Me’, ‘I’m Not The Only One’ and ‘Latch’ (with Disclosure) in reaching the US Top 10.

Meanwhile, Smith says he would have cried if he’d suffered a similar mishap to Madonna falling off stage at last month’s BRIT Awards. Smith says he respected Madge’s ability to carry on with her performance at the ceremony at London’s O2.

Speaking to Stylist, Smith said: “I like to think if I’d been like Madonna that I’d have powered through. But the chances are, I’d have cried and crawled off stage.”

Smith added: “I used to fall up the escalator on the Tube all the time. I’d do what every guy does, and look back as if there’s something wrong with the ground.”
