Sam Smith set for Number One with solo single ‘Money On My Mind’

Disclosure and Naughty Boy collaborator likely to end Clean Bandit's four week reign at top

Sam Smith is heading for his first ever Number One on the Official Singles Chart with ‘Money On My Mind’.

Official Charts Company data reveals that the Disclosure and Naughty Boy collaborator is currently ahead of A Great Big World’s ‘Say Something’ at Number Two, as well as current Number One, ‘Rather Be’ by Clean Bandit, and Pharrell Williams‘ ‘Happy’. The final chart will be revealed on BBC Radio 1 this Sunday (February 23).

There are four other new entries on this week’s Official Singles Chart Update with M.A.D. new at Number 12 today (February 19) with their song ‘Fame & TV’. Tegan & Sara are new at Number 24 with their song ‘Everything Is Awesome’, taken from The Lego Movie.

Elsewhere, in the Official Album Chart, Nina Nesbitt is on course for the Number One spot, with her debut album ‘Peroxide’ currently in the lead in terms of sales at the midweek point. However, tonight’s Brit Awards could see album sales for artists performing live, such as Arctic Monkeys, Katy Perry and Beyonce, surge in popularity.

Other new entries in this week’s Albums Chart at the midweek point come from We Are The In Crowd (7), Blackberry Smoke (15), Oysterband (24), Miloš Karadaglič (36) and Issues (40).
