Sampha returns with new song ‘Timmy’s Prayer’ – listen

SBTRKT and Drake collaborator shares new single

Sampha has returned with new solo song ‘Timmy’s Prayer’.

The track is available to stream and download now. Sampha’s last EP came, ‘Dual’, came out in 2013. It was the follow up to 2010 debut ‘Sundanza’. The track is available now through Young Turks (The xx, FKA Twigs, Jamie xx).

‘Timmy’s Prayer’ was revealed at midnight last night (May 13) and was preceded by a message from the artist explaining his absence and promising more new music is coming soon.

The message read: “Hello. It’s been a while. I’ve had a lot to process these past couple of years, as we all do, and it’s hard to articulate sometimes. I wanted to say thank you to all the people who’ve shown me so much love and support. I’m looking forward to start sharing my music with you again.”

Although music under his own name has been infrequent, Sampha regularly collaborates with others and his voice was heard on both of SBTRKT’s albums. Meanwhile, two of his tracks made it onto Drake’s ‘Nothing Was the Same’ in 2013.

He also duetted with Katy B on her 2014 album ‘Little Red’ while a collaboration with Kanye West, ‘Saint Pablo’, leaked earlier this year.
