Gardner was helping a friend with farm work when incident took place
San Cisco’s bass player Nick Gardner will miss the band’s upcoming US and Mexico tour after he accidentally shot himself in the foot while working on a friend’s farm.
Gardner (pictured above far right) was in the process of driving through a rough part of the farm with his friend when he reached down to stop his gun from bouncing around. “Before I knew it, it had gone off,” the guitarist said in a statement. “The bolt had slid down and the jolting head had triggered the gun.”
He added: “I realised I had been shot and ripped off my boot and sock to reveal a hole in my foot and blood everywhere. Isaac, my mate, quickly got his first aid kit and bandaged it up. He then started driving towards the nearest hospital, which was 100kms away. I passed out in shock and came to shaking and being yelled at. By the time we got to the hospital I was calm, but in excruciating pain.
“The doctors got morphine into me and put me in an ambulance headed for a bigger hospital. I eventually made it to the Perth hospital where a specialist has done a great job putting my foot back together.”
Gardner did add that he will join the band again when they tour Europe, when he’s “not completely knocked out by painkillers.”
San Cisco embark on a world in support of their new album ‘Gracetown’ next week. The tour is due to begin in North America and will head to the UK in March. The Australian band will play as planned and a replacement bass player will be announced soon.
