The track comes from their forthcoming debut album 'Silence Yourself'
Savages have unveiled a “short film” to accompany new single ‘Shut Up’, recorded in collaboration with filmmaker Giorgio Testi – scroll down to watch.
‘Shut Up’ will feature on the bands forthcoming debut album ‘Silence Yourself’, which is due for release on May 6.
Lead vocalist Jehnny Beth said: “‘Shut Up’ is self–affirming. It was (written) in a time where as a band we were fighting to get moneymakers out, and trying to make sure that we were surrounded by the right people.”
To coincide with the single, Savages are due to play an intimate London headline show at Ministry Of Sound on May 9. Curated by the band, the evening will feature special films, DJ sets and a support slot from the band’s producer Johnny Hostile. Tickets go on sale at 9.30am tomorrow (April 19).
Following on from Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ backlash against the use of smartphones at gigs earlier this week, Savages have put up their own sign instructing attendees of recent shows not to use their phones. It reads: “Our goal is to discover better ways of living and experiencing music. We believe that the use of phones to film and take pictures during a gig prevents all of us from totally immersing ourselves. Let’s make this evening special silence your phones.”
Savages are touring the UK in May, beginning in Sheffield and closing with a slot at Field Day in London’s Victoria Park.
Tour dates are as follows:
Sheffield Queen’s Social Club (May 1)
Glasgow SWG3 (2)
Norwich Arts Centre (5)
Nottingham Bodega (7)
Bournemouth Old Fire Station (8)
London Ministry Of Sound (9)
London Field Day Festival (25)
