SBTRKT used his BBC residency in the early hours of Friday, August 21 to unveil five new tracks, including new solo productions and a remix.
The three solo SBTRKT efforts are entitled ‘Runner Replicant’, ‘Enchanting Forest’ and ‘Kalida’, and can be heard (or downloaded) on BBC iPlayer, here, as part of a show described as a ‘behind the mask’ take on dance and electronica. SBTRKT has also uploaded a full, playlisted version of the show to his Soundcloud, here.
The two other new tracks unveiled on the show were a previously unreleased collaboration with Mississippi rapper Big K.R.I.T. titled ‘Guadalupe’, and a remix of long-time collaborator Sampha’s 2010 release ‘Rainstars’.
The hour-long show also featured tracks from Tame Impala, Drake and A Tribe Called Quest.
SBTRKT has been quiet when it comes to new material for the best part of a year, since his second studio album ‘Wonder Where We Land’ was launched last October. He’ll play a couple of European festivals in the coming weeks, featuring at Lowlands in Holland and Outlook in Croatia, having recently played Latitude and Glastonbury.
The residency was SBTRKT’s second in a series for the BBC, forming part of a monthly show for the DJ, who’ll be appearing until the end of the year.
