The competition heads for London's Millennium Dome this year...

Full details have been announced for the TECHNICS / DMC WORLD DJ CHAMPIONSHIPS 2000. The annual event takes place at the sumptuous, 3,500 capacity SKYSCAPE venue in the MILLENNIUM DOME, LONDON at the end of September.

The event, which has been running in various forms since 1983, is spread over two days, with the World Team Finals taking place on Saturday September 23rd, and the World Individual Finals taking place on Sunday September 24th. Past winners at the events have included DJ Cash Money, Mixmaster Mike, Q-Bert and The Scratch Perverts.

DJ’s have only six minutes to demonstrate their skills, and competition is high, featuring as it does scratch-meisters from 25 different countries as far afield as Austrailia, Croatia, Tunisia and the Philippines. Each participating country has its own finals to determine who is going to represent the nation at the event.

This year, attention will be centred most closely on the UK candidate Mr Thing and the defending US champion DJ Craze. The Miami resident Craze has won for the last two years running, but Mr Thing was one of the victorious (and now defunct) Scratch Perverts in the team event last year. The event costs #10 per day, and runs from 6.30pm till Midnight. Tickets are available now.
