“If I could write a song for Morrissey that would be great because he was a big part of my teenage years,” he said.
“I’d like to write a song with Shaun Ryder as well, that would be great fun. I would work with anyone and everyone.”
Gallagher went on to reveal that he has shaken up his creative process, echoing previous comments about the potential direction of new material.
“I’ve been writing songs on the bass recently,” he added. “I’ve got to say it’s fucking unbelievable. No wonder Sting is so fucking rich!
“Everything I’m writing at the minute sounds like The Police or The Cure.”
Gallagher’s comments after speaking of his fondness for Morrissey last year, when he and wife Sara MacDonald met him on a night out.
“I love that guy, he’s unbelievable,” said Gallagher. “I had a night out with him a few years back in LA, and he was just, he kills me, he was just the funniest guy ever.
“I bumped into him in a hotel and me and Sara were out one night. We were sat in a different bar, and I went to the toilet. And I said ‘Oh can I get my wife to come and meet you?’ He went ‘Oh I don’t know, is she nice?’ And I said ‘Yeah, she’s gorgeous’.
“She came and he kind of looked at her and he went ‘ooh’. I was like ‘Wow, what a dude’. Yeah he’s unbelievable, funny.”
