Shakira's in there too - but who will top the charts on Sunday?

GARETH GATES looks like he’ll hold on to the top spot for a third week with ‘ANYONE OF US (STUPID MISTAKE)’. The second Number One single from the POP IDOL runner-up faces stiff competition from S CLUB JUNIORS’ ‘AUTOMATIC HIGH’ and SHAKIRA’s ‘UNDERNEATH YOUR CLOTHES’, both of which are on course to appear in the top three.

Linkin Park are set to have the strongest new rock entry, with ‘Points Of Authority’ expected to make the top ten. But Doves look unlikely to replicate the top 3 success of ‘There Goes The Fear’, with the second single from their ‘The Last Broadcast’ album, ‘Pounding’, currently residing in the lower reaches of the top 20.

‘Miss Lucifer’, Primal Scream‘s first single from their forthcoming album ‘Evil Heat’, and Streets‘ ‘Weak Become Heroes’ are both selling well enough to make the top 40 at the moment, with the Scream just ahead of Birmingham’s sultan of the spoken word.

The new singles chart is announced on Sunday July 28. For the full, official chart listings, see NME.COM.
