Shame have reacted to the 2018 Mercury Music Prize and their lack of inclusion in the short list this year.
Many expected the band to be nominated for their debut album ‘Songs Of Praise’ including NME’s very own Tom Connick,
The South London five-piece have now taken to Twitter to react to the LP not being nominated, writing: “Oh well,” before adding: “We didn’t really expect anyone to care about songs of praise anyway so I think we’ll live we didn’t really expect anyone to care about songs of praise anyway so I think we’ll live.”
They also expressed their disappoinment at Hookworms’ album ‘Microshift’ not being nominated adding that they felt the band “were robbed”.

Arctic Monkeys‘ latest album ‘Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino‘ were among those that made this year’s list along with Jorja Smith’s ‘Lost & Found‘, Sons Of Kemet’s ‘Your Queen Is A Reptile’ and King Krule’s ‘The Ooz’.
The Mercury Music Prize 2018 ceremony will take place on September 20 at the Eventim Apollo, Hammersmith.
The event will feature live performances from many of the shortlisted artists and the evening will culminate in the announcement of the overall winner of the 2018 Hyundai Mercury Prize for Album of the Year.
