Directed by Anthony Sylvester, ‘Darker’ follows the singer as he explores the Joshua Tree desert in California. Drones were used to film the clip’s sweeping landscape shots.

The song will feature on Shamir’s forthcoming debut album ‘Ratchet’, which is due out in the UK on May 18, with the US release a day later. Focusing on the 20-year-old’s experiences growing up in Las Vegas, the record will boast 10 tracks, including singles ‘On The Regular’ and ‘Call It Off’.

Just last month, Shamir launched a ‘relationship hotline’ to promote ‘Call It Off’ that offered “free round-the-clock advice for all your relationship needs”. Still operational, you can call 1-844-4SHAMIR (UK dial 0800 1933266) and avail of three options: You can leave a message explaining your problem and wait for Shamir to get back to you, you can listen to ‘Call It Off’ over the phone, or you can hear those options all over again but in the artist’s deep voice.

The ‘Ratchet’ tracklist is:

‘Vegas’
‘Make A Scene’
‘On The Regular’
‘Call If Off’
‘Hot Mess’
‘Demon’
‘In For The Kill’
‘Youth’
‘Darker’
