The singer-songwriter plays Green Man Festival this August
Sharon Van Etten has unveiled the video for her song ‘Our Love’.
The track features on the New York-based singer’s latest album, ‘Are We There’. For greater intimacy, she closes her eyes for the most part of the video, but Sharon has the most beautiful eyes in the world, so there was some sadness in doing this,” commented Collins. “Luckily, she opens them in the end.”
Speaking about the video, Van Etten said: “Working with Karen was a dream. We sat together and talked about imagery and feeling and distance versus connection. Lightness versus darkness. Referencing directors like Tarkovsky to articulate the beauty in the understatement and slowness. ‘Our Love’ is about someone acknowledging that having loved and letting it be over can be just as beautiful as being in love. It can also be a form of rebirth and renewal and inspiring and uplifting, even in the darkness and sadness. I think Karen captured that really well.”
Sharon Van Etten will play three UK gigs in November. The shows are part of a wider world tour and see the singer-songwriter starting at Manchester Cathedral on November 24, then playing Glasgow Art School on November 25 and Birmingham Library on November 26. The gigs follow a single UK festival date this summer, with Van Etten playing Green Man Festival on August 16.
