She & Him’s Zooey Deschanel files for divorce from Death Cab For Cutie’s Ben Gibbard following split

The pair officially separated at the end of last year

She And Him‘s Zooey Deschanel has filed for divorce from Death Cab For Cutie‘s Ben Gibbard following last year’s announcement that their marriage was over.

According to People magazine, Deschanel filed for divorce on December 27 2011 with the Los Angeles County Superior Court. The papers list the date of their separation as October 31 2011 and cite “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for their break up. The pair – who tied the knot in December 2009 – were married for two years.

“We’re friendly,” said the singer and Hollywood actress to People, who has starred in films including (500) Days Of Summer and The Happening and currently appears in US TV sitcom New Girl. “It’s all fine,” she added.

At the time of their split a source close to the pair reportedly said: “It was mutual and amicable. There was no third party involved.”

She And Him – the duo comprised of Deschanel and M Ward – released their last album, the festive ‘A Very She And Him Christmas’ in October last year, while Death Cab For Cutie released their seventh album ‘Codes & Keys’ in 2011, following it up with UK shows.
