New evidence suggests the incident wasn't entirely the star's fault...

Rapper JAMAL ‘SHYNE’ BARROW will not face serious charges over his involvement in a weekend car accident that left two people in a serious condition in hospital.

As reported yesterday (January 22) on NME.COM, jury selection in the trial of Shyne, his friend and label boss Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs and Combs bodyguard Anthony ‘Wolf’ Jones over their part in a 1999 New York nightclub shooting was suspended following Shyne’s arrest over the accident.

Prosecutor Matthew Bogdanos insisted in a Manhattan court yesterday that Shyne might face criminal charges after running through a red light and driving without a valid licence. However, late yesterday he was forced to admit that fresh information had come to light, pointing the finger at the people in the other car, who it now appears ran through the light and crashed into Shyne’s Mercedes. The rapper was not hurt in the accident, which occurred just before 9pm near the corner of 19th Street and Ninth Avenue in Manhattan.

However, Bogdanos still applied for an increase in Shyne’s $50,000 bail. According to

Jury selection will continue today (January 23).
