Rapper SHYNE has started a counselling group for fellow inmates, as he awaits sentencing in NEW YORK’s RIKERS ISLAND prison, it has been announced.
The former protege of Puff Daddy, who has been held in the jail since March 25, awaiting sentencing on June 1, explained his decision in a statement to Entertainment Weekly magazine.
“I’m trying to show and introduce my fellow inmates, most of whom are young men, to different attributes [that] all humans need to succeed, including discipline, self-confidence, determination, faith and a belief in God and yourself,” he said.
Shyne is facing up to 25 years inside, after been found guilty of weapons and assault charges for his part in a December 1999 nightclub shooting.
Puffy was acquitted on related charges during a huge trial in Manhattan earlier this spring.
