Sigur Rós have composed the soundtrack for a new black metal movie, which stars Sky Ferreira.
Lords Of Chaos is directed by Jonas Åkerlund and is set to premiere at the Sundance Film Festival next week (January 23). The film focuses on the Norwegian black metal scene, and is based on Michael Moynihan and Didrik Søderlind’s 1998 book of the same name.
The movie, which also stars Jack Kilmer, Rory Culkin, and Emory Cohen, will follow black metal group Mayhem, according to reports. The group are one of the founders of the Norwegian black metal scene. Their guitarist Øystein Aarseth (aka Euronymous) was murdered by ex-member Varg Vikernes (aka Count Grishnackh) in 1993.

Åckerlund has previously directed videos for Beyoncé, Madonna, Lady Gaga, and The Rolling Stones. He also made the 2002 movie Spun, and was behind Sigur Rós’ 2016 vide for ‘Óveður’. You can see a poster for Lords Of Chaos above.
Meanwhile, Sigur Rós also provided two songs for the Black Mirror episode ‘Hang The DJ’.
The music was put together by Alex Somers (who frequently collaborates with Sigur Ros frontman, Jónsi) and features two new tracks from the Icelandic post-rock veterans with ‘Match’ and ‘End’.
