Simple Minds leave EMI

Simple Minds and EMI part company

SIMPLE MINDS have been dropped by their record label EMI following a string of rows over their forthcoming album ‘OUR SECRETS ARE THE SAME’.

According to reports in today’s Sun newspaper, the label refused to release the record, so the band decided to take it elsewhere.

Frontman Jim Kerr told the paper: “Things broke down and we took the plunge by saying to them, ‘We would rather not work with you on this record and we’d like to take it back.?…EMI weren’t very enthusiastic about putting it out. We looked to them for leadership and direction but we felt it wasn’t there.”

EMI are currently refusing to comment on the matter as it’s subject to a legal dispute between the two parties.
