Sinead O’Connor ‘took overdose’ before issuing cry for help on Twitter

Singer opens up about her recent troubles

Sinead O’Connor had admitted that she took an overdose days before issuing her cry for help on Twitter earlier this week (January 11).

The singer, who had asked her followers on the social networking site to help her find a doctor and confessed that she was feeling “unwell and in danger”, told The Sun that she had taken an overdose in Los Angeles last week (January 5).

She said:

I took an overdose. God obviously wants me around – though I can’t think why.

Rolling Stone also reports that O’Connor was hospitalised with a broken ankle after her attempt at taking her own life failed.

The singer’s latest cry for help came one week after she announced that she and her new husband, Barry Herridge, had reconciled after calling off their marriage just days after tying the knot in Las Vegas.

Last September she wrote similarly bleak tweets about having suicidal thoughts.

The singer is set to release a new album, ‘How About I Be Me (And You Be You)?’, on February 20, and will embark on an UK tour in March.
