Skepta won’t perform at Lollapalooza due to “ongoing visa issues”

Joey Purp is set to fill his slot

Lollapalooza festival has revealed that Skepta won’t be able to make his scheduled appearance there due to “ongoing visa issues”. He was set to perform at the event which takes place in Chicago’s Grant Park later this month (July 28-31).

A tweet announcing the news on the festival’s twitter account read: “Due to ongoing Visa issues, Skepta will not perform at Lollapalooza this year. Joey Purp will perform on Perry’s at 2:30.” You can see the full post below.

Skepta is still to make an official comment on the matter.

This isn’t the first time the Boy Better Know boss has had US work visa issues, after he revealed he had been denied entry to the States in April, meaning he was unable to play his scheduled appearance at Coachella festival.

The grime MC, whose real name is Joseph Adenuga, did manage to make his debut appearance on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage last month (June 24) though, where he made the crowd form a mosh pit for his performance of ‘It Ain’t Safe’, and was also joined on stage by Lewisham grime star Novelist for the track ‘Lyrics’, which features on Skepta’s debut album ‘Konnichiwa’. That was all before the whole Boy Better Know crew departed the Glastonbury Festival site on a buggy – just hours after their appearance at Worthy Farm.

Shortly after that performance (June 28), Skep shared a new song titled ‘Coming Soon’, which features ILoveMakonnen and Céon, and is his first new music since ‘Konnichiwa’ was released in April.
