Skepta has been made an actual Chief in Nigeria

Greatness only...

Skepta has been honoured in Nigeria and awarded with a chieftaincy title.

The grime MC, who was born in London to Nigerian parents, attended a ceremony in his family’s hometown of Ijebu Ode, Ogun state on Wednesday (April 4).

He was conferred with the chieftaincy title “Amuludun of Odo-Aje”, later sharing a video from the ceremony to Instagram.

“Thank you to the Baale, Chiefs of Odo Aje and King for presenting me with my Chieftaincy title today,” Skepta wrote in a caption.

“I am honoured and will continue to put time and love into Nigeria, especially the community of Odo Aje.”

NME has asked Skepta’s PR for more information.

Naomi Campbell shared a photo of Skepta with his chieftaincy certificate. See that picture below.

While in Nigeria, Skepta also performed a show at the Federal Palace Hotel & Casino in Lagos.

Skepta and Naomi Campbell recently graced the cover of GQ magazine.

Both Skepta and Naomi Campbell attended the VO5 NME Awards 2018 on February 14 at the O2 Academy Brixton in London.

Legendary model Campbell joined NME backstage to talk Liam Gallagher and reveal who her Godlike Genius is. Watch that chat below.

Manchester band Pale Waves also spoke about meeting Naomi Campbell at the VO5 NME Awards.

Speaking to NME backstage, Pale Waves described fashion icon Campbell as “lovely”.

“She’s an absolute ledge,” singer Heather Baron-Gracie added. “She’s sat at our table. She just complimented us when we came off stage. She’s an absolute hero.”

Skepta, meanwhile, introduced Liam Gallagher on the night for his Godlike Genius award and performed ‘Ding-A-Ling’ live with Stefflon Don.

NME‘s Jordan Bassett wrote that the performance “left us in no about about the kind of night we were about to witness: showbiz razzle-dazzle, a little debauchery – and tons of bloody fun.”
