Skunk Anansie singer Skin has been recording the theme tune to the forthcoming Vic Reeves and Bob Mortimer series Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) with James Bond composer David Arnold.
The series, which will be shown on BBC1 early next year, features Reeves and Mortimer creating their own version of the cult 1960s show.
Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) followed the exploits of private detective Jeff Randall who was helped by his dead partner, Marty Hopkirk – a ghost who only Randall could see. The programme’s catchphrase was, “Why can’t you stay dead like anyone else?”.
It is thought, however, that the theme tune recorded by Skin will be different to the original, which was an instrumental.
A spokesperson for Skunk Anansie told NME: “David approached Skin to do it as he really likes her voice and they’re working on it for a while, but it’s not finished yet.”
Meanwhile, Skunk Anansie release new single ‘Lately’ on Monday (July 26), the third track to be taken from their current album, ‘Post Orgasmic Chill’. The single is released on two CD formats. The first includes new track ‘The Decadence Of Your Starvation’ and a previously unreleased remix of ‘Charlie Big Potato’ while the second features another new track, ‘This Pill’s Too Painful’, and an Armand Van Helden remix of ‘Secretly’, the band’s last single.
