"I never gave a date on my album. Therefore there's no 'delay'", says singer and actress
Sky Ferreira has defended herself from those she claims are “bullying” her on the internet over the release of her next album.
The release of Ferreira’s ‘Masochism’, the follow up to 2013’s ‘Night Time, My Time’ has been a protracted affair with the album put back last year following health issues.
Ferreira recently confirmed that the album will be released in the summer, though work has not yet been completed. Ariel Rechtshaid (Adele, Beyoncé) is returning as producer alongside executive producer Mike Dean (Kanye West) and Kendrick Lamar producer Rahki.
Yesterday (March 20) Ferreira hit back and people who she perceives have criticised her for the so called delay, saying that as she never gave an official release date for the record it cannot be late.
“Bullying me on the Internet or whatever will not make the process faster,” she added. See her tweets below.
Ferreira also mentioned “doing lots of other (creative) things” in her tweets. She was recently cast in the new Edgar Wright (Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz) film Baby Driver and will also star in another film titled Rosy. Both titles are scheduled for a 2017 release.
Ferreira was due to release the follow up to 2013’s ‘Night Time, My Time’ last year but the album failed to materialise. The new album is said to be “more aggressive” than her debut with Primal Scream frontman Bobby Gillespie a collaborator.
Back in 2014 Ferreira revealed a high-quality demo version of new song ‘Guardian’, said to feature on ‘Masochism’. Ferreira posted a studio version of the song at the time.
She has also collaborated with Gillespie on the new Primal Scream single ‘Where The Light Gets In’.
