Sky Ferreira looks set to release the first new music from her forthcoming second album, ‘Masochism’, this week.
‘Masochism’ was first announced back in April 2015, but the album was delayed from being completed last year due to health issues. However, in a February interview with Dazed, Ferreira confirmed that ‘Masochism’ would indeed be released at some point later this year.
In a post on her Instagram page over the weekend, Ferreira appeared to confirm that music from the new project would be released this week.
Posting what appears to be a screenshot from a new music video, the artist wrote “Editing. Lots of surprises next week hint hint nudge nudge #Masochism”.

Speaking about the album title back in February, Ferreira says that it was inspired by a dark period on the road. “I started writing the lyrics two years ago when I was touring, and that’s when the name came to me,” she said. “The way I look at it, it’s about going from one thing to another. I’ve learned a lot about myself and my own self-value. Before, in order to feel good about anything there had to be some kind of struggle, a painful way to get to it, otherwise I felt I didn’t really deserve it. Which is a really fucked up way of thinking.”
Ferreira released her debut album ‘Night Time, My Time’ back in 2013, which featured songs co-written by Ariel Rechtshaid, who will return as co-producer for ‘Masochism’.
