'Guardian' video yet to be recorded; issues include potential health complications
Sky Ferreira has taken to her Tumblr blog to reveal ongoing delays to latest video ‘Guardian’, her first release since 2013 B-side album ‘Night Time, My Time’.
In the post she describes a number of factors that have postponed the recording of the video. Most are innocuous scheduling issues, but the ‘Obsession’ singer also states that health problems are amongst the causes.
“It’s the first song I’m releasing since ‘Night Time, My Time'”, she explains. “It is a very big deal for me and a whole new chapter musically /visually /mentally, so I want it to be released and properly made.”
While recording hasn’t yet started, Ferreira has also posted recent images of her holding two video cameras with a caption ‘into the labyrinth’, and has promised the recording will take place in August.
“What I’m doing for the video has to have a very specific group of very special people to make it what it is meant to be, so that means getting everyone to be available at the same time to do so,” she explains.
Most notably, though, Ferreira talks about unspecified health problems.
“I’ve had health issues within the last few months, so I needed to get better before I started releasing and playing shows again without complications,” she reveals, without going into specifics.
The new song was announced back in May, with the video accompaniment expected to be along the lines of a short video story rather than a traditional music video. It’s likely to form part of the up-coming ‘Masochism’ album, which is due to be released on an as-yet unconfirmed date in 2016.
Meanwhile, Ferreira will play two California festivals, Sundance and Outside Lands, in the coming weeks.
