Guns N' Roses guitarist surprised the young cast of the Broadway show during a rehearsal
Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash surprised the young cast of the School of Rock Broadway show by joining them in a rehearsal of ‘Sweet Child O’ Mine’.
The star entered the stage while the pre-teen cast were already practicing the song, and played along with young guitarist Brandon Niederauer, who plays the role of Zack Mooneyham in the show. Watch below.
Slash continued to perform with them, going into a run-through of the song ‘Paradise City’ before meeting the musicians and posing for photos.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Slash said “It was really cool to meet such an enthusiastic and talented bunch of young rock ‘n’ rollers. They were great kids as well as players.”
Slash is not the only star to surprise people by performing with the School of Rock cast. Earlier this year Stevie Nicks sang ‘Rhiannon’ with the band in front of a shocked audience as part of an encore. Nicks has reportedly seen the show several times and is interested in taking the band on tour with her, according to Tony-nominated actor Alex Brightman.
In his first interview since Guns N’ Roses’ reunion, Slash discussed the band’s experience of getting back together.
Speaking to Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer on Boston radio station WZLX, he was asked if the band were “playing nice” on their tour.
“Everyone’s playing great,” Slash said, “and playing nice – yeah. Everybody’s getting along. We were all pretty positive that that would never happen so it’s still sort of blowing our minds.”
