Slash twitters on Michael Jackson’s death

Death comes just weeks after Slash's mother passed away

Former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash has taken to Twitter to comment on the death of Michael Jackson, who passed away yesterday (June 25) at the age of 50.

“Really sad news about Michael, he was a talent from on high,” Slash wrote.

The pair had collaborated in the past, including an appearance at the 1995 MTV Video Music Awards when Slash played the ‘Black Or White’ riff during a medley by Jackson.

Jackson’s death comes just weeks after the passing of Slash’s mother Ola Hudson, who lost a battle with lung cancer on June 5.

The guitarist revealed via Twitter that he did not attend the June 20 funeral service for his mother after the details were leaked online. Instead, he and his father held a private service earlier that day.

Jackson was taken to Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles yesterday, after suffering what is believed to be a cardiac arrest at his home. A team of doctors tried unsuccessfully to resuscitate him for more than an hour before he was declared dead.

An autopsy is due to take place later today (June 26).
